Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, designed by E. Fay Jones and constructed in 1980.
You know, I don’t often say “Wow, what a beautiful church”, but… wow.
Via Cabin PornIn nearly every urbanized society throughout human history, there have been people who have tried to constitute themselves as an aristocracy. These people and their allies are the conservatives.
The tactics of conservatism vary widely by place and time. But the most central feature of conservatism is deference: a psychologically internalized attitude on the part of the common people that the aristocracy are better people than they are. The true goal of conservatism is to establish an aristocracy, which is a social and psychological condition of inequality. More generally, it is crucial to conservatism that the people must literally love the order that dominates them. People who believe that the aristocracy rightfully dominates society because of its intrinsic superiority are conservatives; democrats, by contrast, believe that they are of equal social worth. Conservatism is the antithesis of democracy. This has been true for thousands of years.

Okay, I’m going to stop being coy. RBS #2 is a magazine and I’m putting together with a bunch of people. This is the cover by Benjamin Constantine of Plump oyster. This dude is amazing, he really needs more recognition, and that’s what RBS is about, working with people who I believe need to be known.
Also included are:
Alan Saunders: This man, is a legend of soft, sensitive and specific humor. Champion of underdogs and fathers and sons. He’s made tons of cartoons and comics and I’m glad to say has been my friend for a long time. watch this or this.
Andy Fenlon: Besides being rejected from American Idol for being too rude and interviewing Noam Chomsky while high on mushrooms this guy hasn’t done much but make avante garde websites and constantly output bizarre configurations of media. Also good man.
Ashley Gates: Photographer and poet, sweet and pretty. Love what she does and happy to be helping funnel some of her output into a singular zone. Check her blog.
Blaise Larmee: Conceptual hero, internet dissident. Award winner and teacher(?) An unpredictable guy, and I’m pretty sure yall won’t be expecting what ends up in the zine from him. He’s got a lot of stuff on the net, I’ll let you find it.
Christopher Schaeffer: Poet as well as cultural and academic critic as well as good guy. He’s teamed up with designer Ben English to make some amazing work for this issue. Check his blog.
Dane Martin: Dane taps into another world with his work; A world of fever dream nightmares and [deleted] . Shhh… he seems to be on the same tangent as David Lynch… don’t tell anybody though. anyways.
Erin Campbell: Local Michigan photographer with no internet presence. She’s a good one. I promise you will like her photos.
Jack Doering: a LA painter, also no internet presence. He was born in the wrong time, should have grown up with Picasso, I’m super proud to be documenting his work, maybe for the first time?
Jim Thorel: Wow, Jim Thorel, this man does amazing work. That’s all I have to say. He’s got the genius in him. Check his work
Jonny Negron: The man needs no introduction, duh. He’s a rising star, and very honored to have him in the zine.
Sam Gascan: First time I met this guy was the night after I got my tooth knocked out in Toronto, I don’t know why I’m making this about me, but he’s got great comics, arts, musics and ethics. A lovely man. He’s got a tumblr too.
Shalo P: I feel like this guy says fuck you daily, but when he does everybody laughs, a real guy, check out this interview he did.
Thomas Hunter: Probably the hardest working animator/illustrator on the web, and so polite and positive too! stuffffff.
Tim Lahan: Makes good art and design, simple bold, conceptual pieces that make me salivate. This guy is clinically on point. So happy to have him. chhere!
Zach Phillips: Amazing gentleman and musician, artist, poet, writer. Been blogged on pitchfork for his band blanche blanche blanche and has had his poems printed, made videos, ect. ect. ect. I think this is one of his nexuses.
And so that’s almost it, will include a few special guests, I want to have it all together and off to the printers by the end of this month… does anyone want one? jeeze fuck! there’s so much to do I have to get back to working on this thing.
Oh whoa I’m that guy.
